Founded in 2018, Koiop Connect provides culturally meaningful disability support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Newcastle, Dubbo, Moree and Tamworth. With a team of more than 100 and six houses across Newcastle, the organisation continues to grow its services, supporting participants through supported independent living, community participation, personal care, short-term accommodation and work experience opportunities. Founders Jake and Tareka Chatfield have also expanded their community offering with Pier Ninety One, a multi-purpose event space in the heart of Newcastle, catering for celebrations, corporate events and community functions. With growth across both organisations, they needed reliable technology that could support their day-to-day operations while also enhancing the emerging event space.
Jake had previously used Sharp technology in another workplace and remembered that he had “never had a problem with it”. That experience gave him confidence to contact Sharp Office when Koiop Connect needed to upgrade its printing technology. Working with Sharp Office Account Manager Scott Roberts, Jake found the process straightforward and personal. He describes the experience as “positive” and says Scott “truly listened to what we needed and made the whole process seamless”. For Koiop Connect’s head office, Scott recommended a Sharp photocopier and Kyocera desktop printer, providing the team with reliable technology suited to its everyday needs.
The conversation also introduced Jake to the possibilities of HDi Interactive Screens for Pier Ninety One. An 86-inch HDi Interactive Screen was installed to support presentations, videos, photos, workshops and events.
The new technology has given Koiop Connect reliable print equipment to support its growing team, while Pier Ninety One now has a flexible presentation and collaboration solution for its events. For Jake, the HDi screen is a “good selling point that replaces all the old stuff like projectors”, giving the venue a more modern and versatile way to deliver presentations and engage with guests. Just as importantly, the experience reinforced the value Jake places on working with other local businesses. He says having a brand people “know and trust”, combined with “support and personal service”, makes a real difference. For Koiop Connect and Pier Ninety One, partnering with Sharp Office has helped connect his two growing local businesses with solutions designed around the way they work.
