Since 1977, Jenny’s place has provided support and temporary housing to women and children experiencing domestic violence in the Hunter Region. Throughout their many years serving the community, Jenny’s Place saw the demand for other support networks and opened the Newcastle Domestic Violence Resource Centre, which was the first of its kind in the Region at the time. The Resource Centre helps women, children, the elderly and LGBTQI community who are in need and connect them to the right support service, such as counselling, legal services and housing.
The Sharp Office Team attended the Jenny’s Place 45th Anniversary Breakfast this month to celebrate the work they do for the community. The Team learnt about some of the challenges the organisation has faced and changes which have aided their continuation. All donations received from the event went to funding the Resource Centre and all the available services. If you would like to donate, click here.
