From humble beginnings to thriving organisations, it is great to see how the local businesses we work with have grown. One example is Hunter Care Group (the Group), whom we have been a print partner of for over 7 years. As local mental health and disability support specialists, Hunter Care Group is committed to making a difference in the community and helping those in need achieve greater wellbeing. This month we sat down with Mathew McKeown, General Manager to learn why community connections are vital and how the right print solutions can help any business.
Local supporting local
Working with local likeminded businesses has always been our approach, and for General Manager Mathew is equally important. “It’s incredibly important for us to connect with other businesses and services in the area,” he shared. Working with local providers isn’t just about convenience for Mathew, it’s about “community and collaboration” and understanding the real benefit of being able to “communicate and work with someone local like Sharp Office who understand our challenges and the local landscape”, he said.
Like Sharp Office, Hunter Care Group believes in building intentional connections with other local enterprises. This approach has allowed them to grow steadily since their founding in 2016, and part of that journey has involved partnering with us for their printing and office solutions.
As they continue to grow, the Group remains committed to supporting local initiatives, which they do so regularly via their $1,000 community development fund. From small business or nonprofits, local sports or even homelessness support and food banks like Soul Café, “as long as it’s local, we want to help,” said Mathew.
Solutions that grow
Hunter Care Group’s journey with Sharp Office began in their second year of operation when their staff grew and they needed more efficient printing solutions. Mathew recalled using a small printer that would “constantly jam and cost a lot in cartridges”, once they outgrew the scale it could provide. After driving past our Broadmeadow office, they connected with Nick Ashford and “found a photocopier for their growing needs. Since then, the service has been amazing. We are a very busy organisation, but Nick and Sharp Office has never let us down – everything runs like clockwork”, Mathew said.
Nick and our Print Service team have been a dependable part of the Group’s evolution, providing fast, reliable support and print technology. “What we really appreciate about is the old-school approach – genuine communication and a direct focus on what we need. It’s been an easy relationship from the start because they understand our values and our commitment to the community”, said Mathew.
Navigating a changing landscape
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is central to Hunter Care Group’s work, which they have been navigating since they began, but as Mathew clarified, it is an ever-changing landscape where regulations can shift. Another challenge the Group navigates is the growing mental health crisis and increasing homelessness in our region.Mathew explained that his team are focused on ensuring “everyone receives the best support, even when external circumstances make it difficult.”
According to Mathew, staff are providing an impressive 9,000 hours of support per week, focusing on helping participants achieve independence and live their best lives. Following a recent satisfaction survey, 94% of clients were reported satisfied and equally pleased were staff with 91%, a testament to their efforts.
Hunter Care Group is a good example of how local businesses can uplift each other to aid their success into the future. From collaborating with community organisations, accountants, legal firms and many other industries, we can help tailor a solution for your business to help it grow.
