Michael Capriotti

Meet Michael Capriotti, affectionately known around the office as Cappo. At 17 years of age, he was offered a job with BHP as a boiler maker, at the same time he was offered work with a local office supplies business. He chose to pursue working in office supplies with his sights set on a career in sales. Starting our doing deliveries and warehouse duties, he has since built relationships with hundreds of local businesses, some of which he visits every fortnight to take stock and check in – delivering good old-fashioned customer service!

1. Advice

Know and value the importance of leadership. Good leadership can empower success in everyone’s job, whether you are just starting out or a veteran in your field. Finding a workplace that embraces an ethical and supportive environment, a place where management trusts and values their staff, and gives employee recognition.

2. Quote

“To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity.”

3. Recommendation

One of my local Newcastle favourites is Kinn Thai Kotara. If you haven’t tried it, add it to your social calendar! It is the perfect place for Thai food fans in a relaxed and family-friendly location.

4. Work-Life Balance

While working full time and being a father to four kids (including twins) keeps me busy, I enjoy spending my downtime on the sidelines at Saturday sports or holidaying in our family’s favourite destinations – the Gold Coast and Bali (finally we can get on an aeroplane again!). I still play soccer most Friday nights.

5. Tip

Building longevity at work comes from commitment, trust and going that extra mile to help customers.
